At 67 years old, I really wasn’t expecting my son and his family to move in with me. But my son lost his job eight months ago as a financial advisor for a large auto manufacturer in New Jersey, and his wife has never worked, and their expensive lifestyle quickly drained them of their savings.
He tried so hard to get another job, and I’d think with his track record and years of experience it wouldn’t take long, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. His wife even tried to find something, but with never having worked she came up absolutely empty-handed.
There are so many experienced people out there looking that someone with no experience doesn’t have a chance! They found themselves unable to survive on unemployment, so they came out to California to live with me. I’m retired and have a small, fixed income, and although he’s collecting unemployment, it’s barely enough for us to all get by, as he has two kids and lots of credit card debt. It’s been a real struggle and no one is happy with the situation, least of all me.
Not only am I going broke, but I have four extra people in my small house and it’s driving me, and them, crazy! I’m wondering if there is some kind of company that specializes in getting experienced people rehired. I’d think in this economy there would be something like that out there? Seems to me that it would be worth an initial investment if it eventually panned out to mean a job. I just think my son needs some extra help here, because he just can’t find anything on his own. I’d appreciate any information you have about this!

I think its great you’re taking care of them while they are down but I do know how hard it is to financially take care of someone these days.
Have you’re son try sending out as many applications as possible on sites like monster.com and yahoojobs.com.
My mother always says you’ve got to do what ever it takes – even if it means collecting cans to support your children.
