You have to be fired or laid off to receive unemployment.

You may be eligible for unemployment if you quit your job under certain circumstances: your hours or pay is cut dramatically, a medical condition prevents you from preforming your job duties, you are in a hostile work environment, or in a dangerous/hazardous environment. I would advise you to contact you local unemployment office for further information.

I am a school teacher. The student in my class has choked, pinched, and kicked me and other students on a daily basis, the child is autistic. I am tired of getting abused. The parent of one of my students had a meeting with the principal and wants to take her child out of the school fear of safety for her child. The abuse not only happens in my class but also during classes when he is with other teachers. Do I qualify for unemployment if I quit?

Hello and thank you for your time, I just have a question can i collect unemployment if the environment at my job is hostile. I'm a Asst. Manager but my District Manager has put me in a 90 days period because he thinks i,m not good as a manager, but since i started working there i never had a problem with any of my associate's or complains, but every time he comes to the store it's just a really hostile environment, he is always complaining about something or making you feel bad and comparing you with other people, he makes me really stressful and uncomfortable. What should i do if after does 90 days he wants to demote me, but not fired me?

I have a new boss who started in the company less than 2 months ago. I have been with the company about a year. The other day he told me he was "underwhelmed" by my performance and is going to replace me. He wants to keep me on as a "senior" level person. I am currently a high level manager. There would be no reduction in salary but all my bonus opportunities would no longer be available in a senior position. I have never been received any form of written or verbal critizism of my performance. If I don't accept this offer into a senior postion and quit will I be eligible for unemployment? I live in Massachusetts.
Thank you. -

I returned to my job after 5 months maternity leave to find my desk gone and the ED stated that she thought I wasn't coming back. I informed her and my supervisor several times that I planned on returning. I no longer have my original job but have been assigned to the duties I had 4 years before I was promoted withe same pay rate as I had when I left. It states in the employees manual that they reserve the right to do this. Also, there is a new supervisor who was a newbie when I went out on leave and she is abusive and stands behind me criticizing me. I cannot take the stress and humiliation. As far as I am concerned it is a hostile environment. They have nade it crysal clear that they did not want me to return. If I quit can I collect Unemployment benefits?

I recently returned to my job of 5 years after having twins. On the second day of my return, the people who agreed to care for my babies changed their minds and now will not take care of them. I have no other options but to stay home which means I will have to quit my job and look for a evening job so my husband can care for them at night. Will I be able to collect Unemployment benefits while searching for another job? If I request working part time at my original job they will turn me down as they do everyone who requests part time and probably ask me to resign. I n that case could I collect?

I have worked in a non-profit organization for over 3 years that does not take unemployement insurance out of our pay checks.
Before that, all my jobs were with profit companies that did take out unemployment insurance from my pay check. I've been told that I am no longer eligible for unemployment benefits, even though I have paid into it for 40 years.
This organization is letting people go. Would I be able to file for unemployement from my previous jobs? -

I had to quit my job in Virginia due to the fact that my husband relocated to Florida. I see this as a hardship and something beyond my control, can I qualify for unemployment benefits in VA? I applied and they said I don't because I quit to join my husband in another state. I want to appeal because I don't see myself having a long term relationship, what do you think?

I get partial unemployment and work only 17 hours a week on minimum wage. I want a full time job so am therefore quitting my job and moving into my house where I don't have to pay rent. Can I still collect unemployment.
