You can file but it doesn't guarantee you will get approved. You must state your case telling what happened and your employer has to also show good cause as to why they fired you.

Most companies will deny the claim but you can appeal if they do and still win. You have to justify your claim.

Depends on why you were fired. I know people that have been fired and some got unemployment and some were denied. All depends on what happened.

Hard to say without providing more information...assuming you didn't do something wrongful to get terminated you should have a chance.

normally people don't receive unemployment if they got fired. if it was a wrongful termination then you might be able to clear your name and collect unemployment.

if not start searching the job listings!

You can be denied for reasons like stealing etc, but just because you are fire doesn't mean you are automatically ineligible to collect.

I live in R.I. but I'm required by my employer to travel to Mass. to work. This is anywhere from
88 miles to 119 mile round trip daily. R.I. employment law requires me to travel 70 miles round

I was fired from missing my training day. I came in on last day of orientation when I was given days of training (which was a shift that I was not offered). I just quit my job. Was there for 1 1/2 year. Commuting time was 1 hr a day. I worked for a company who worked with mentally retarded individuals. I was accused of not doing my job on several occasions by my supervisor and the HR woman. I was suppose to wake them up to use the bathroom at night, and did. Even though I did this, 1 or 2 of them would be wet when they were woken up in the am. I was accused repeatedly of not doing this, and was written up then fired without any proof other than a co worker's opinion on the amount of urine present. I say that because the supervisors main point is that they think i could not have woken them up at all for how wet they are.

My boss didn't even offer to give me a probationary period like we did with others there. I asked if my boss would consider having me back and putting me on a probationary period and he said no. Even if you are fired, an especially for no valuable reason, even after a short you can file for unemployment, but since the employer does not want to pay, have to take legal action.

I am a marketing manager at a finaicial institution. I have been with the Bank for over 5 years earning "Top Performer" status in 2007. The leadership here has decided to farm out the Bank's marketing to outside firms. They don't want to fire me, so they've asked me to take a Branch Manager position (probably same pay). I not at all qualified for this position. I have not specific training as a Branch Manager or eduction (they usually have finance degrees). I have been eductated as a marketer and have over 12 years of experience marketing at different companys. I was a devoted hard working colleague who started as a now responsible for managing approx 49 colleagues. I was labeled as this "witch".... And I am sure that at times this was true to an extent. Anyways this could go on forever but the other 3 colleagues were terninated for the same reason and the same day and they all got their unemployment on the first try and i am now appealing this. Why was I denied???? I need that earned money for my family and my bills... When this happens what does the employer have to have to prove this? What happens when this is not true and you keep saying this but you were denied of your unemployment benifits. There is no proof. There is not video showing this as they claim. There is no admission of guilt. What can you do to prove that you are telling the truth and that you did not take anything? What approach should you take on your phone hearing? Is it a positive thing when you contact the lawyers that unemployment provides and they want to take the case and they say they believe you ( of course they already have your file that you sent them)? I just don't want to get over exicted thinking that i am going to get the back pay that is due and earned to me?..I have over due bills just like everyone else?

I was fired from a job I loved because the manager was a total lunatic who was going through her change . She even had me move the new manager in to an apartment (i was an apt manager) and I didnt even know it. I even caught on, since they said it was okay for her to be in a senior facility. I said please give me documentation for the file..I was given a nasty email saying WE said it was okay..blah blah..I repeatly asked to take PTO time off I earned, and was denied. 38 hrs they took from me that I earned. I filed a complaint with the state of MI to get it..we'll see how that goes. I filed for unemployment, but have to wait 6 weeks. I guess my advice is to keep all emails, document everything..I knew she would pull some kind of stunt eventually, so I did just that. If they deny me my unemployment, I am prepared for a fight. Also, during this waiting time, keep calling the unemployment office when youre supposed to (once every other week) because when or if youre approved for it, they will back pay you those weeks. I am simply disgusted on how employers these days in this economic hardship think they can yell and scream, and treat employees like dirt because they know they can easily be replaced by the millions of people who are unemployed. I wish there was some kind of committee (and maybe there is, I simply havent found it yet) that fight for the rights of employees being abused day after day by nutcase management. After I was fired, I felt such a relief..like the abuse was over, finally. Abuse is a strong word, but thats exactly how I felt. I pray I am never in that situation again. Good Luck to all.

I HAVE WORKED FOR A COMPANY FOR ALOMOST 9 MTHS I WAS PUT ON A FINAL DUE TO MY ATTENDANCE WHICH DIDNT BECOME A PROBLEM UNTIL MY SUPEVIOSR QUIT ON US. CRAZY PART IS THE WROTE ME UP FOR A DAY THAT MY SUPERVISOR PREVIOUSLY HAD ALREADY WROTE ME UP FOR. THEY HAVE ALSO DENIED MY PAID TIME OFF WHEN I RIGHTFULLY HAD IT ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAY THEY DONT TAKE DOCTORS EXCUSES THATS WHY WE HAVE PTO. I RECENTLY HAD TOT AKE OFF 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS BECAUSE MY SON WAS IN THE ER WITH A HORRIBLE STOMACH VIRUS DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED AND THEY SD BECAUSE I WASNT THE ONE WHO WAS SICK WHICH MY CHOLD IS 4YRS OLD I CAN HAVE IT EXCUSED. IF I AM TERMINATED FOR THIS CN STILL COLLECT UNEMPLOYMNT???? PLEASE HELP

All you can do is try. Most states are employee friendly. Look up on your state website (wages and employmemt something or other) to find the form where you can fight for them to pay you youre PTO. Thats what I did, still waiting to find out.

i had once work in the temp job i was one of the best worker in the whole place. work was assemlyline work. i had work with this job for 3 years off and on. one day i had work on a good line and my friend was on really bad line and all of them was going to get send home. then they had took the best worker off the the line and change the person with me and it seem like they had step me up, they were treating us wrong. so i had to leave the job and had got fired.

I worked at both UPS and Fedex part-time for approx a year. Upon hiring me at Fedex, the manager knew that i was currently employed by UPS. I have recently been terminated due to 'conflict of interests' obviously stated in their policy. My question is, can i collect partial unemployment for being fired? Two current managers knew i worked with UPS and they still employ multiple individuals who work with both companies. no, you cannot get unemployment if you were fired for threatening another employee. that is considered termination with cause. cause being you committed an illegal act on the premise and are now considered a risk to have as an employee.

i quit my job for unsafe condtion.i been working there for 2 years.i start out loading 3 to 4 trucks at the same time now i am up to 7 trucks.i come home with back pain foot hurts i told them several time bout how they were killing me they told me nothing.it been three guys that just quit cause the work got crazy we have 15 guys that work in shipping.we have 36 trucks they send out 4 guy out of are department everyday and leave us with 10 guys to do 36 trucks it just got crazy when they said a new supervsior back there.so i quit can i get unemployment

So now I probably have to suffer the consequences. I was laid off back in Sept 2009 from big telecommunications company. I've been on unemployment since then but I worked a temporary job out of town from Jan '10-April '10. I blame myself and I feel so stupid because I listened to really bad advice. I was told when I file my unemployment every week that the questions I answer pertain to the state I reside in and not the state I was temporary visiting and temping a job in. I take full responsibility for my stupid mistake. Now, the unemployment office has scheduled a phone hearing because I voluntary quit the temporary job. My residence is in Northern Virginia and I went to visit my elderly parents in Hawaii. They needed my help, so I went there to help them and then I got a temp job and then I came back home to Virginia. What do I say to them? Do I admit I made a mistake? As of this moment I am not working. I will be up the creek if they stop my unemployment benefits. What was I thinking? Of course that person and I are no longer friends and she works in HR!

I got fired on October 10th 2009, for taking home coworkers Ipod. I was clocking out on Saturday night at 10.00pm and I saw that Ipod on register, I took it home instead of turning into lost and found. and they fire me for that..I've worked there two time they hire me again for my performance. I worked at a factory, through a temp agency, for 11 & half months. And a couple Saterdays ago I was working at my machine and I had my ipod in my pocket, with the ear buds hidden under my shirt to where all u could see is the ear buds coming out of the top of my collar. I only wore 1 ear bud & left the other 1 off so I could hear my supervisor if he spoke to me. I listened to them the whole 11 months and that Sat, My supervisor walked up to me & said pack your sh*t & go home!! I argued with him. & even begged him 2 atleast give me a warning, because hell, there where like 5 other employees who wore headphones too! I called and they said I was FIRED!! I filed for UNEMPLOYMENT , Do you think I will recieve benifits? I have a wife & an 18 month old son , I need help ASAP.
