If I know that I am going to be laid off in one week, can I apply prior to my lay off?

I was in the same situation – when i called they said I have to wait until I was officially laid off. Then there was a week waiting period.

Ive been working for the same AC company for about 1yr and a couple months full time but for a month or two only about 10hrs a wk. They dont want to let me go or fire me because it will pick back up just a matter of when. What do i do quit, ask my boss to lay me off or what cuz i need the income?

WILL I QUALIFY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT IF I AM FACED WITH A PAY CUT AND DECIDE THAT IT WILL NOT BE WORTH THE LONG TRIP AND GAS FOR THE AMOUNT OF PAY THEY ARE SUGGESTING?

I worked in a company through 12/2009-3/31/2010. Can I file UI? If I will file now, my base period is only entire year of 2009, which I only worked one month, should I wait till 6/2010 to file so it counts the month of 1/2010-3/2010? So I will have more benefit?

For those already on unemployment: You ALL need to contact your state’s Unemployment Commission or whatever place you contacted to get the unemployment in the first place. Each state is different so they would know the correct answer.

Those not on unemployment: Your state probably has an Employment/Unemployment Office of some type and that is who you should contact. Usually some .gov website.

Every state has different laws/rules/regulations.
