I believe resigning voluntarily or involuntarily will get your claim denied. i wonder if that’s why they wanted you to resign – so they wouldn’t have to pay?

Hello,

I believe that if you had GOOD cause to resign that you could still be considered for unemployment.

If your performance is poor and they want you to correct or leave and you just leave – that would not be a good reason.

If the company was relocating to another state that could potentially be a good reason.

Hope this helps!

Karen

This morning when I got to work my boss pulled me aside and asked me to sign a form saying that if I came in late one more time in the next 90 days I would be terminated.

I’ve never had an attendance problem and I’ve never had a verbal or written warning about my attendance.

I refused to sign the letter and 5 minutes later he pulled me aside along with HR to let me know I was terminated.

Am I able to collect unemployment benefits?

thanks

Resigning usually means your going to get denied for unemployment benefits

If you quit you’re job you typically shouldn’t get unemployment. But there are exceptions. I suggest filing and see what happens.

I am a chha(certified home health aide) and my job requires you to have a car. However, my car is constantly breaking down on me which makes it hard to get to my clients home, causing me to lose hours and money. If i resign because i do not have reliable transportation can i collect?
